AFTER POLAND - BEFORE EUROPE “Once in the middle of the crowd... I stopped...” ...but only for a while. Because the European Anno Domini High Definition tour starts on October 26th. The Polish tour is unfortunately over now. We would like to sincerely thank all the people who risked it and showed up in crowds at the concerts promoting our new album. After the first 20 shows it appeared that the Polish tour ended with the greatest turnout success so far in the history of Riverside's tours--almost 9000 hyperactive fans saw us live. It wouldn't have been possible if not for the commitment of all our tech-crew thanks to which the concerts proceeded smoothly and on the highest level. So again, thanks to the crew. Also, big thanks to the guys from Disperse and Division by Zero for co-operation, and again thanks to all of those who came, listened to, saw, and at least partially switched over from black to red. See you next time and keep your fingers crossed for us playing the European tour. Speaking about the European tour, we have some news for all those who are willing to attend it: 1. The merchandise stand will be selling the limited edition of Anno Domini High Definition on 180g red vinyl together with a poster and a badge. So all of you vinyl-lovers - get ready! 2. Please remember about the additional concert in France. It will take place in Riom (more or less 10 minutes by car from Clermont Ferrand) at La Puce à L’oreille club. 3. After certain changes the final deal is that in Rome (Nov 9) we will play at CROSSROADS LIVE CLUB, and in St. Petersburg (Dec 12) at ZAL OZHIDANIYA - so don't tell us later that we didn't say anything :) 4.  Inside Out ADHD biography - here Riverside: "Anno Domini High Definition Special Edition" In a society which continues to develop at breathtaking speed, racing through world history in seven-league boots, mercilessly trampling down anything unable to keep pace with this ruthless goose step, Riverside have composed an album which is a perfect reflection of our times. An offering full of symbolism – starting with the fact that the title of their fourth release consists of four words and that the album is precisely 44:44 minutes long – and an intelligent stocktaking of reality. Anno Domini High Definition is no concept album in the classic sense, although it features a central theme and a haunting message. “It’s a story about people who angrily state that such-and-such a device is no longer fashionable, before they`ve even learnt how to use it properl themselves.  Exactly 44 minutes and 44 seconds will be the length of the upcoming, fourth Riverside album entitled “Anno Domini High Definition,” the most energetic and rockin’ record of the band. The material recorded in Studio X in Olsztyn will be released worldwide on June 19th, 2009 by InsideOut, and on June 15th, 2009 in Poland by Mystic Production. The booklet layout has again been designed by Travis Smith. There will be five pieces on the album: 1. Hyperactive 2. Driven to Destruction 3. Egoist Hedonist 4. Left Out 5. Hybrid Times Some of them will be played at the forthcoming Riverside concert – on April 26th in Studio club in Kraków. | ||||||

Open letter to... at the so-called pre-end stage. So, step by step, rather fast than slowly, we have finished mixing the material. Fast, because recording an album about haste for two years would be a hypocrisy. Are we satisfied with the final result? Yes. Are we sure? Sure. I think that for many people it will be our best album. And for the others certainly the second best - right after their favourite one. :) We put more emphasis on playing rock - we are a rock band after all. Do you remember the energy on some old rock records, the energy that in one moment just evaporated? Well, we wanted to refer to that somehow. The material is colourful, diverse, there is a lot happening there. I think that when it comes to concerts, this album will turn out the best of all. Lyrics-wise it is not one story, as it was in the case of the trilogy, told from the beginning to the end, but you may as well say it is. For me those are rather thoughts of all those people who wake up every day afraid that maybe this day their "sell-by date" expires. It will be a story about people who, before having learnt how to use device X, angrily state that it is no longer fashionable. Even worse - no longer usable, and now device Y should be used. An album about those who know that if they don't quicken the pace, they will stay behind. About those who sometimes despite themselves must stop at nothing to achive their aims. About those who realise that one of the most popular diseases nowadays does not only concern screaming kids running amok, but also the majority of adults who simply cannot pull themselves together, organise their lives as they would wish to. Do not confuse it with laziness! It will be an album about chaos, constant race, uncertainty, stress, and... the attempt to survive. How would we present this topic? With ballads? Of course there will be some calmer moments, melodies, but... generally it will kick ass! For example, Szymon's ass was kicked. And usually it's very hard to kick him, because he shields himself. Some of you will ask: why write about something that is happening all around? Why record an album that will not take us far away from reality? Here I will clear my throat and say that, personally, I wanted to sum up this decade and draw some psychological portraits of the contemporary man (in parenthesis there should be something in Latin now). Moreover, I think that this kind of albums is necessary, even if we only "apply" them to ourselves once in a while like a vaccine to become immune, to survive, but most of all not to let ourselves go crazy in these hybrid and hyperactive times. And just to finish - I think that just as much as a lot of us want and have to escape the racing reality (as often as possible), it will be - I hope so - impossible to want to escape this music for a long time. And I know what I'm saying, because I'm stuck in this studio with the guys third month in a row. I hope that the results of our work will leak out soon - after all we live in that kind of world now. Theremin - one of the earliest electronic musical instruments, invented (1920) in the Soviet Union and named for its creator, Leon Theremin . A forerunner of the synthesizer, it consists of a wooden box fitted with two radio-frequency oscillators and two metal antennas, a vertical rod on the instrument's right and a horizontal ring on its left. There'll be more rock stuff on the record which will have, so to say, more balls than everything we've done so far. But we will preserve all the nice melodies and traits characteristic to our music. There will not be songs like "Rainbow Box"--rather some longer, more complex compositions, but with more energy, power and ease. It's been a long time since we last had such fun when composing and recording, and I think the listeners will also be "infected" with this atmosphere." The first two weeks is really building the foundations. Only after recording some keyboards is it possible to hear the desired 'music':)) The whole process isn't that fast as it seems and I think that we're not even halfway through to the final effect. But the direction in which everything goes is by all means satisfying. :)) Certainly most of you think: stop talking and GIVE SOME SAMPLES! :)) But be patient... I hope it's worth it... pg | ||||||
